- Abstract
The article deals with the critical and theoretical perspectives on travel and translation, considering the travel writings of Lawrence Durell and Mary Taylor Simeti about Sicily. The anthropological perspective of James Clifford on travel and translation is taken into account. Michael Cronin's study of the role of traveller as a translator and the translator as a traveller in the modern world is considered. Michael de Certeau's idea of space as discursively mapped and corporeally practised is discussed.
