- Abstract
The article presents a study on the association between mitochondrial efficiency and the susceptibility of South Asians to cardiovascular disease (CVD) and other metabolic disorders, particularly among populations that have migrated to affluent countries. Among the hypotheses explored include a thirty genotype, thrifty phenotype, and adipose tissue compartment. An examination of the mitochondrial efficiency hypothesis among South Asians is recommended.
