- Title
The Binomial Conception and Birth of the Normal Distribution.
- Authors
Ciecka, James E.
- Abstract
The article evaluates the method of French mathematician Abraham de Moivre on the normal distribution and probability theory. It describes a solution for the computation of binomial probabilities when the number of trials was large. It concludes that his approach in approximating discrete binomial probabilities led to a continuous function.
