- Abstract
Las conductas desafiantes, heteroagresivas o autolesivas se presentan con mayor incidencia en la población con discapacidad intelectual (Emerson y Einfeld, 2011). Este tipo de conductas es perjudicial para las personas que están a su alrededor y dificulta su inclusión en la sociedad. En ocasiones puede provocar una excesiva medicalización y/o la marginación/abandono de la persona por parte de sus familiares. Una posible estrategia para disminuir la incidencia de estas conductas es la aplicación de ejercicio físico. Los estudios sobre los beneficios del ejercicio en personas con trastornos conductuales y discapacidad intelectual, aunque escasos, muestran resultados positivos en el apartado referente a las conductas no apropiadas. Se espera que las personas atendidas en una unidad de Trastornos de la conducta que realizan más horas de ejercicio físico tengan menores incidencias/medidas restrictivas en su vida diaria y mejoría en su condición física. Este estudio se ha llevado a cabo con una muestra de 50 personas residentes en unidades de trastornos de la conducta (SJDTLL). Se ha realizado un análisis estadístico basado en el número de incidencias, uso de medidas restrictivas y el número de horas de ejercicio físico realizadas semanalmente. Los datos indican que no hay congruencia con las hipótesis prestablecidas, no hay datos significativos que indiquen menos incidencias a más ejercicio físico y mejora de la condición física, cabe decir que sí se observa un alto indicador en el mantenimiento del estado físico de la persona. Aunque no se hayan encontrado datos significativos en los resultados esperados en nuestro estudio, el análisis de la bibliografía existente sí indica una mejoría cuando la persona practica diariamente una o más sesiones de ejercicio físico (Goodwin, Richards, Taylor, Taylor y Campbell, 2008).
