- Abstract
For the sustainability in watermelon production is important to assist the nutritional requirements of the crop, especially at a period with the greatest nutrients demand. Through this work, it was studied the growth and absorptions of micronutrients by watermelon cultivar "Crimson Sweet". The experiment was conducted in the Baixo Acaraú irrigated district, situated in northern Ceará. Plant samples were collected initially at the fourteenth day after emergence (DAE) and were performed at 10 days regular intervals subsequently, represented as: 24, 34, 44, 54 and 64 DAE. The results indicate that the period of greatest dry matter accumulation occurs between 44 and 64 DAE, with a estimated total dry mass accounting 1.131.72 g at 64 DAE; the decreasing order of micronutrients accumulated by "Crimson Sweet" watermelon cultivar was: Fe> Zn> Mn> Cu; at 64 DAE, the shoot absorbed: 495.35 mg kg-1 Fe, 166.71 mg kg-1 Zn, 63.71 mg kg-1 Mn and 14.09 mg kg-1 Cu. The period between 44 and 64 DAE characterizes as the most micronutrient demanding.
