- Title
Targeted imaging: the key for direct visualization of myocardial inflammation in patients?

- Abstract
This article discusses the potential of targeted imaging techniques for visualizing myocardial inflammation in patients. Inflammation plays a crucial role in the clinical and prognostic outcomes of acute ischemia, making it a promising target for personalized therapeutic interventions. While current clinical imaging methods can assess the effects of inflammation on the myocardium, they do not directly elucidate the inflammatory process itself. Nuclear medicine, specifically SSTR2-targeted imaging, shows promise in detecting inflammation in various tissues, including the myocardium. However, there are still challenges to overcome, such as the availability of imaging methods, technical considerations, and the need for larger studies to establish routine applications. Once these challenges are addressed, targeted imaging could be a valuable tool for identifying patients who would benefit from specific therapies.
