- Abstract
In this paper, the charge atomization patterns and characteristics of aviation kerosene/ethanol blended fuels E0, E10, E30, and E50 were investigated, and the effects of ethanol blending ratio, fuel flow rate, and nozzle orifice diameter on the charge atomization characteristics were examined. The results showed that in the charge voltage range of 0-10 kV, the E0 fuel was mainly in a single mode—droplet mode. With the increase of charging voltage, the E0 fuel changed from droplet shape to spindle shape; the E10, E30, and E50 fuels all successively appeared in the droplet, pulse jet, cone jet, deflected jet, and multi-stranded cone jet modes, in which the droplet mode changed from droplet shape to micro-droplet shape. With the increase in ethanol blending ratio, the critical voltage required for the transition of atomization modes of E10, E30, and E50 gradually decreased, and the atomization cone angle gradually increased. With the increase of fuel flow rate, the charge atomization cone angle gradually increased, and the critical voltage for atomization mode shift gradually increased. The charged atomization cone angle did not change significantly when the nozzle diameter decreased from 1.05 mm to 0.30 mm.
