- Abstract
David Axford (1934–2024) was a highly accomplished meteorologist who made significant contributions to the field throughout his career. He held various positions within the Met Office, including Director of Services, and was also nominated by the United Kingdom to serve as the Deputy Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization. Axford was a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and played an active role in numerous professional organizations. He was known for his technical expertise, managerial skills, and supportive leadership style. Axford passed away in April 2024 at the age of 89, leaving behind his wife and 12 grandchildren.
