- Abstract
The article discusses some research problems in the field of elementary science pertaining to curriculum, learning, evaluation and administration. To address curricular problems, the development of the degree of difficulty of concepts should be investigated. Besides, organization of contents in elementary science should be done around significant problems. Also, the sequence of the life experiences that accompany the maturation of children should be more thoroughly explored. On the learning front, science teachers should investigate the psychology of learning of scientific information and accordingly disseminate it to children. Moreover, elementary science program would be strengthened by developing adequate evaluation devices for measuring the ability to use partial principles as a basis for interpreting new situations and the ability to use the scientific method consciously. Finally, emphasis should be put on training of teachers, as one of the major obstacles to improvement in the teaching of science in the elementary school is the absence of scientific training for the elementary-school teacher.
