- Abstract
The article deals with the recycling of carbon fibers (CF) and their use in the production of 3D-CFK parts. Due to strict environmental regulations, CF production waste and CFK structures will pose a challenge for recycling in the future. Currently, recycling is mainly done through pyrolysis, which is energy-intensive and produces brittle fibers. A new approach based on solvolysis recovery of CF and spinning process has been developed to obtain a hybrid yarn suitable for textile processing. The aim of the research project was to develop a new value chain that includes the recovery of CF, the re-coating of recycled CF, and the production of hybrid yarns. These hybrid yarns can be used to manufacture reinforcement structures for the production of new CFK components. The investigations show that the rCF hybrid yarns from rCF type 1 have a higher tensile strength than those from rCF type 3. The developed recycling process chain enables the reuse of CF in new thermoplastic composite components.
