Roberts, P. B.
- Abstract
A critique is presented of the 17th century English Civil War satire poem "Generall Masseys Bartholomew-Fairings for Colonell Poyntz, and the London Reformadoes," which could be attributed to clergyman Thomas Triplett. The author describes a reference in the poem to school high master Alexander Gil, who was notorious for whipping people, and cites the book "Brief Lives" by John Aubrey.
