- Abstract
Cefotaxime (HR 756) is a new broad spectrum parenteral cephalosporin which has a high degree of activity particularly against Gram-negative strains and is resistant to hydrolysis by -lactamases. The results of clinical study in 38 patients are presented. Cefotaxime was effective in treating infections due to , , haemolytic streptococci (Groups A, C and G) and . There was variable success with infections due to and two patients with typhoid fever failed to respond. Cefotaxime was well tolerated and no serious toxicity was noted.
