Pakistan: Can U.S. Policy Save the Day?
- Authors
Malik, Mustafa
- Abstract
The article discusses the political stability, and the U.S. policy in war against terror in Pakistan. The main concern of the U.S. administration over the instability in Pakistan is that the country might become haven for terrorists, or that the Taliban or al-Qaeda might gain access to nuclear weapons. Apart from these, the conflict between the Punjabis and other minority ethnic groups over ethnocentrism is said to be the main threat to the government's stability. The U.S. administration, led by President Barack Obama, focuses on the issues of terrorism, nuclear proliferation and democratization on Pakistan policy.
