- Abstract
The present article consists of the analysis of the school architectural space, considering the users' perception and the demands of the pedagogical project of a public teaching building. This study aims to understand the contemporary scenario of Brazilian public school architecture. The relevance of this research is based on the fact that the educational building directly influences the performance of students, teachers and collaborators in the teaching-learning process. The respective post-occupancy evaluation seeks to understand in depth the needs of all user groups of the Luiza Terra de Andrade Municipal School. Through the diagnoses carried out in the built environment, a list of aspects necessary for the execution of school building projects was structured. Thus, the analyzed school portrays the way basic education in Brazil has been developed. The qualitative and quantitative inadequacy of the observed environments portrays the reality of numerous educational institutions existing throughout the national territory. In this way, it becomes essential to change the way schools are designed and make the user the center of the entire design process.
