Neuroimmunology: A painful difference between the sexes.
- Authors
Bordon, Yvonne
- Abstract
The article discusses research on the sex difference in the neuroimmune mechanisms involved in pain perception. It references the study "Different immune cells mediate mechanical pain hypersensitivity in male and female mice," by R. E. Sorge, published in the 2015 issue of the journal "Nature Science." It shows the essential role of microglia for mechanical pain hypersensitivity in male mice, while lymphocytes appears to take that role in female mice.
