- Abstract
In 1915, Ricardo Güiraldes and Alfredo González Garaño devised a “modern” “indigenous” “ballet”, which they called Caaporá. In 1917, when one of the most important companies of the 20th century returned to Buenos Aires (the Ballets Russes), Nijinsky would have been interested in the project. This article proposes to approach the ballet project based on certain affiliations that it maintains with Diaghilev's company -especially in its modern "gesture"-, as well as how the project approaches the "Guaraní world" in the context of what was known as the first Argentine nationalism.
