- Abstract
The strawberry crop is one of Egypt's important strategic food and manufacturing vegetable crops, on which some food industries are based and an important source of national agricultural income, and strawberry exports contribute to hard currency and foreign exchange. The problem of research has been limited to the fluctuation and instability of the export of fresh strawberries, although Egypt has a comparative advantage in the production of this crop. Therefore, the research aimed at studying both the development of the production and export capacity of strawberry crop, the geographical distribution of Egyptian strawberry exports, and the analysis of the competitiveness of strawberry exports in the most important foreign markets, and the research relied on the use of descriptive and quantitative analysis using some statistical and mathematical methods. The research has reached the most important results: One of the most important findings of the research is that the most important export markets for strawberry crop are Belgium, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Russia, UAE, UK, Kuwait, The Netherlands, Iraq, where these markets together account for 81.89% of Egypt's total strawberry export value, and about 82.47% of Egypt's total strawberry exports as an average for the period (2015-2019). The most important export season for strawberries shows that the most important export months (December-January-February) are the most important months, with an average of 54.93 thousand tons, representing about 79.2% of Egypt's total strawberry exports during the period (2015-2019) of about 69.35 thousand tons. The results of the penetration rate also showed that the Belgian market occupies the initial lead, followed by the German and Saudi markets in second and third place respectively.
