- Title
Allergic contact dermatitis from lavender fragrance in Difflam® gel.
- Abstract
The article presents information on allergic contact dermatitis from lavender fragrance in Difflam® gel. Benzydamine hydrochloride, a topical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, has been reported as a contact and photocontact allergen on a number of occasions, but in most instances, this has been due to allergy to the active compound. There are at least 8 case reports of contact and/or photocontact dermatitis from benzydamine in the recent past. Lavender oil contains geraniol, linalool and linalyl acetate and is thought to be phototoxic.
