- Abstract
The article examines the association of rival salience to sport team identification at Duke University in North Carolina. Several research suggest rival team salience may increase sport team determination when the specific domain of the team is salient. It finds out that higher levels of team determination predict greater levels of sport watching on television, live event attendance, and sport listening on the radio. Study results suggest that salient outgroup should be significant to specific ingroup with increased identification level.
