- Abstract
The article discusses the Convention on Biological Diversity, which recognizes the value of biodiversity for economic development and establishes state sovereignty over natural resources. Topics discussed include the delimitation of marine areas under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea; the differences in technological capacity and and abundance of natural resources in developed versus developing states; and the need for international cooperation to manage marine resources.
