- Abstract
The article reports on the Australasian Resuscitation in Sepsis Evaluation (ARISE) trial which compared early goal-directed therapy (EGDT) with usual care in managing patients with septic shock admitted at the emergency department. Topics covered include analysis of the volume of intravenous fluid administered, central venous pressure (CVP) and mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) during the first 6 hours of the ARISE trial and relationship between CVP and fluid administration in septic patients.
