An editorial is presented on the Clinical Infectious Diseases offers a prospective trial of enema-delivered fecal microbiota transplant (FMT) as treatment for severe Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). Topics include the single-arm study is small but timely and important, the perform FMT to improve the dismal chances of patients with severe CDI, and the CDI that provoke and treat the infection disrupt the colon's rich microbial ecosystem like fire in a forest.
