- Abstract
The article offers information on the tax consequences of carbon credits, including the planning opportunities that may be available to market in the U.S. It states that carbon credits in the Cap and Trade Program are created when taxpayers undertake projects whose primary objective is to reduce, avoid or sequester greenhouse gas emissions. It notes that the nature of carbon credit is to enable taxpayers and their tax advisors to develop long-term tax planning strategies.
