- Title
Are You Getting Enough Money from PR?
- Authors
Levy, Ronald N.
- Abstract
The article reports on methods that can be employed to determine how public relations (PR) funds should be used in order to turn a profit. The author focuses on the PR plight of the U.S. tuna industry. Environmentalists urging consumers not to buy tuna-related products posed a significant problem for the industry. The industry eventually turned to PR firm Hill and Knowlton to persuade consumers of the health benefits associated with eating tuna products. PR dilemmas related to the stainless steel and fiberglass industries are also discussed. The retail chain Wal-Mart's PR strategy is offered as a successful example. The author proposes three rules for PR teams and managers to follow.
