- Abstract
The article focuses on the evaluation of a 36-year-old woman after dental extraction without endocarditis prophylaxis whose blood cultures were positive for Streptococcus viridans. It says that the patient was submitted for surgical closure of the ventricular septum defect (VSD) to prevent progressive aortic regurgitation and endocarditis. It mentions that the ultrasound images of the patient showed prolapse of the aortic valve with mild regurgitation and a left-to-right shunt.
