- Abstract
The article reports on the occurrence of two events that happened at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and at the Congress in the U.S. An NIH researcher pleaded guilty to the criminal charges he was facing over issues on conflict of interests that brought tighter agency rules. Congressman Joe Barton, a Republican from Texas passed an authorization bill that Congress will direct management of the NIH and gave permission to further budget increases, as well as the creation of common funds.
