- Abstract
The article reports on the work of visual neuroscientists in India that challenges the clinical notion that treating a blind child beyond the age of eight is hopeless. A 29-year-old aphakia patient who was blind since birth was given glasses to treat his condition. During the first year of treatment he could recognize only two dimensional objects but after 18 months with the glasses, he had begun building his visual vocabulary and recognize more complex objects.
