- Abstract
Güneşi İçenlerin Türküsü (The Ballad of Those Who Drinks the Sun), which is Nazım Hikmet's poetry book first times published in Baku in 1928, had great influenced in the Azerbaijani literature. Azerbaijani poets first time encountered collectively different poetry form with this book. Poets and critics, such as Ali Nazım, Süleyman Rüstem, Ekrem Cafer, Mikail Refili wrote various essays for this book. Even though there are examples of free verse in Azerbaijani literature, in various magazine and newspapers until 1927-1928, these examples are not suitable literally for definition of free verse. Mikail Refili, who Nazım Hikmet's said "You could be a poet, you became professor", in an article emphasizes that three-four examples of free verses published in the journal of Maarif ve Medeniyet having Nazım Hikmet's influence. Nazım Hikmet is a litterateur who has the most influence on the Azerbaijani poets with his poems and life. Both during his life and after his death to the Nazım Hikmet dedicated poems by Azerbaijani poets, which is the 20th century's pioneer in Azerbaijani literature, such as Ali Nazım, Mikail Refili, Semed Vurgun, Süleyman Rüstem, Memmed Rahim, Madinah Gülgün, Bahtiyar Vahapzade, Neriman Hasanzade. In this study, primarily, in the 1920 and 1930s the process of writing of free verses written by Nazım Hikmet's influence in Azerbaijani literature will be studied. After that, the poems written in 1950's and after Nazım Hikmet's death will examine.
