- Abstract
The article discusses research which demonstrates how knowledge gained from biochemical transgenic and molecular research can be translated to the field for tree breeding applications. The study used the Breeding with Rare Defective Alleles (BRDA) method to identify functional polymorphisms in candidate genes that are predicted to impact specific traits. It showed that BRDA can accelerate discovery of mutants that are of value to tree breeders and basic research.
