- Abstract
The article discusses a study related to investigating participation of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) in intercellular communication with lung alveolar epithelial cells through microvesicledependent exchange of microRNAs (miRNAs). Topics discussed include alteration of mucosal gene expression during acute lung injury, increase in lung epithelial cell expression of microRNA-223 (miR-223), and association of miR-223 deficiency with severe lung inflammation.
