- Abstract
The article discusses a report about the progress in worldwide measles control from 2000 to 2010. An overview of the measles goals endorsed by the 2010 World Health Assembly is provided, including the reduction in yearly measles incidence at less than five cases per million and the increase in routine coverage with measles-containing vaccine, due to the increase in measles cases in 2010 following decreases from 2000 to 2008. The report noted that during the years 2000-2010, yearly reported measles cases have reduced by 60 percent and measles incidence by 66%.
