- Abstract
The article discusses suicide as the cause of death among young Americans. There are myths related to the cause of suicide in the U.S. including the belief that suicide victims are loners or losers and that the victims commit suicide because they are motivated by the physical or psychological pain they experience. Suicide is done through hanging, pesticide ingestion, firearm, drug overdose and jumping from a height. One way suggested to prevent suicide by firearm is to put restrictions to firearm access.
