- Abstract
The article focuses on an open-label randomized controlled trial which compared the effects of mycophenolate mofetil with azathioprine on the prevention of relapses in patients with anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAC). The study was conducted from April 2002 to January 2009 at 42 centers in 11 European countries, wherein the patients were randomly assigned to azathioprine or mycophenolate mofetil treatments. Results revealed that mycophenolate mofetil was less effective than azathioprine for maintaining disease remission.
