- Abstract
The article discusses the historical significance of the classic article "Aortocoronary Bypass With Saphenous Vein Graft: Seven Year Follow-up," by H. Edward Garrett, Edward W. Dennis, and Michael E. DeBakey, published in a 1973 issue. The author explains that the article is important because it documented the first successful coronary artery bypass graft. He believes that it was monumental in the evolution of the surgical treatment of atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
