- Abstract
This article examines the synthesis of benzoate esters mediated by polymer supported benzoyl chloride. Procedures for the preparation of alkyl benzoate, n-propyl benzoate and phenyl benzoate are discussed. Comparison of the reaction conditions of different methods of ester synthesis is also discussed. The study shows that phenols react faster than alcohols in the presence of a base, such as potassium carbonate, because acidity of phenols is greater than alcohols.
