The author reflects on the article "Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antiretrovirals in the central nervous system" by A. Calcagno and colleagues. Topics discussed include aim of the study to predict potency of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) concentrations of antiretroviral drugs, highest CSF concentration in darunavir/ritonavir and lowest in atazanavir, and comparison of randomized study of a central nervous system (CNS) penetration effectiveness (CPE)-based CNS-targeted regimen.
