- Abstract
The author discusses the aspects of progress in preventing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1). He is critical of providing antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) to pregnant women living with HIV infection during any transmission prevention programs. Also investigated are loss of women and infants during infant prophylaxis, maternal disease staging and infant HIV testing.
