The article focuses on the speech-act theory for signifying the concepts of linguist and philosopher J. L. Austin on performing works with speech. Topics discussed include role of speech-act theory in understanding the trademark law, significance of distinctiveness doctrine and role of speech-act theory as the source of communication. It further discusses the laws made for trademark registration.
