- Abstract
The article discusses a computational and experimental method of die design for flow balancing of a U-shaped thermoplastics extrusion profile with nonuniform wall thicknesses. It is said that flow balancing is important in the design of an extrusion die as distorted products with residual stresses tend be generated from an unbalanced flow. Processes involved in the method include the parametric design of the modular die and simulation analyses. Results show that flow can be balanced with the use of a restrictor bar.
