- Abstract
The article discusses research conducted by marine chemist Benjamin Van Mooy and colleagues at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution on the ways in which marine microorganisms affect global nutrient cycles. Van Mooy has focused on phosphorus cycling and phospholipids. The study shows that sulfur and nitrogen-containing lipids are more abundant than phospholipids in some Sargasso Sea species.
