- Abstract
The article discusses a study which documented hook and line gear interactions with bottlenose dolphins in the Indian River Lagoon (IRL) system, a shallow water estuary along the east central coast of Florida. Results show that hook and line fishery interactions represented the cause of mortality for 4.9% of all dolphins examined. The ingested gear were found to be present in the esophagus and oral cavity of the animals.
