Uso de Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi en el tratamiento de eimeriosis en caprinos.

- Abstract
Antecedentes: las parasitosis constituyen una de las principales problemáticas en los sistemas de producción animal‚ por lo que se requiere evaluar estrategias sostenibles para su solución. Objetivo: evaluar la eficacia de Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi: sobre huevos de helmintos y oocistos de Eimeria en caprinos lecheros. Métodos: el experimento se llevó a cabo en una propiedad ubicada en la Mesoregión Zona Mata de Minas Gerais‚ Brasil‚ en las épocas seca y lluviosa. Para la obtención del extracto fueron usadas cortezas de S. terebinthifolius‚ las cuales fueron secadas y maceradas‚ para producir un extracto hidroalcohólico. Luego se inició la colecta de las muestras fecales‚ directamente del ano de 130 cabras‚ entre animales jóvenes y adultos‚ y hembras secas o en lactancia‚ en la zona de estudio. Se realizó el examen de huevos por gramo de heces para verificar la presencia de huevos de protozoarios‚ descartando aquellas muestras con muy poca o ninguna presencia de huevos. Luego del centrifugado de las muestras se procedió a la adición del extracto‚ después de su dilución. Se evaluaron dos concentraciones del extracto (7‚5 y 15 mg/ ml). Se utilizó levamisol (15 mg/ml) como control positivo‚ y agua (150 µl) purificada estéril como control negativo. Se cuantificaron los huevos blastomerados y larvados‚ y las larvas en estado L1. Se estimó el porcentaje de eficacia en la inhibición del desarrollo larval. Se identificaron los géneros de nemátodos presentes. Los datos fueron analizados mediante estadística descriptiva. Resultados: se constataron infecciones mixtas con Trichostrongylus (37‚75 %)‚ Cooperia (8‚57 %)‚ Haemonchus (55‚50 %)‚ Bunostomum (1‚12 %) y Oesophagostomum (3‚06 %). La eficacia del extracto sobre los huevos de helmintos fue de 100 %‚ la misma que para el control positivo (levamisol)‚ mientras que sobre los oocistos de Eimeria la eficacia fue de 80 y 95 %‚ en las concentraciones 7‚5 y 15 mg/ml‚ respectivamente. Conclusión: bajo las condiciones de estudio‚ el extracto de corteza de Schinus terebinthifolius Raddi mostró elevado potencial de actividad antihelmíntica en las concentraciones evaluadas.
