- Abstract
Liberal glycemia (180-252 mg/dL) has been targeted in critically ill patients with DM, yielding less absolute and relative hypoglycemia, and decreased glycemic variability, without additional complications [[8]]. Perioperative diabetes screening Diabetes mellitus (DM) is growing in prevalence, affecting 14.3% of adults in the United States (US), with 25% potentially undiagnosed [[3]]. Perioperative dysglycemia, including hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, and glucose variability is ubiquitous in patients with and without diabetes mellitus and is associated with negative outcomes [[1]].
