- Abstract
The article discusses Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory (MCMI) findings among breast clinic patients after initial evaluation and at 4- or 8- month follow-up. This study assessed psychological disturbance among breast cancer patients at the time of initial breast clinic examination and again 4 or 8 months later using a standardized measure of psychological and personality dysfunction, the MCMI. A control group of benign biopsy patients also completed the MCMI on initial evaluation and follow-up. Although the MCMI was designed specifically for use with a psychiatric population, it was chosen for this study because our primary interest was in the prevalence among a breast problem clinic population of psychological disorder serious enough to merit a mental health referral.
