- Abstract
The article presents a case study related to 10-year-old Aboriginal woman who presented to the emergency department was incidentally found to have a haemoglobin and mean corpuscular volume, and 17-year-old Aboriginal man was referred to the Paediatric clinic for a chronic mild microcytic anaemia. Topics inlcude the thalassaemia is also possible, the rarity and unexpected nature of thalassaemia in the Aboriginal community, and the physicians may be underestimating thalassaemia as a differential.
