- Title
Reverence Despite Rejection: The Paradox of Early Christian Views of Biblical Authority.
- Authors
Gregerman, Adam
- Abstract
The article focuses on disagreements that exist amongst Jews and Christians in regard to the authority of the Bible. Particular attention is given to Christianity's rejection of many of the biblical commandments, such as circumcision, food, purity, Sabbath and holidays. Despite the Bible's requirements these commandments were eliminated by many in the early church. The author asks about how Christians affirm the authority of the Hebrew Bible while dispensing with observance of some of the commandments.
