- Abstract
The synthesis of ZnMgO2 nanocomposite has been carried out using wood apple (Limonia acidissima) shell extract and the characterization studies have been carried out using XRD, FT-IR, UV–VIS, SEM-EDAX, TGA and DSC, CV (Cyclic Voltammetry) and AC (Alternating Current) impedance techniques. The XRD study of ZnMgO2 nanocomposite has revealed the crystallite size of 6.5 nm. The SEM analysis has shown the morphology of the combination of rods and spherical grains with particle size of 92.8 nm. UV–Vis study has showed the optical absorption at 336 nm and the corresponding band gap energy of 3.36 eV. The peak at 484 cm−1 has confirmed the formation of Zn–O bond and M–M–O lattice followed by the thermal stability of nanocomposite studied by TGA and DSC. The electrochemical behavior has been confirmed by CV and AC impedance studies and the catalytic applications have shown ZnMgO2 nanocomposite as heterogeneous catalyst in the reduction of 4-nitrophenol and in biomedical applications.
