- Abstract
The article focuses on the government involvement in animal health surveillance in Great Britain and discusses whether the surveillance benefits give value for money. It focuses on the need of surveillance for protecting public health against zoonotic diseases, to promote animal welfare, to protect interests of animal producers and related products industry, and to comply with international trade rules. It also focuses on the cost of surveillance, and allocation of resources to these programs.
