- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the causes and early development of dental caries. Researchers used a petrographic microscope to study dental enamel and found that it has many similarities to crystals, and is composed of crystalline materials. This discovery led to the conclusion that dental caries are caused by an inability of dental enamel to remineralize.
