- Abstract
Octadecylamine(ODA) is a commonly used collector in the production of potassium chloride by positive flotation. For control and optimization of the production process of high-purity potassium salt products, it is essential to rapidly and precisely determine the amount of ODA in the sample at the flotation stage. According to the complexation reaction between ODA and methyl orange in a weak acidic environment, the concentration of ODA in the solution was obtained by measuring the absorbance of the remaining methyl orange at a specific wavelength, and a spectrophotometric method for rapid determination of the concentration of ODA in salt solution was established. The determination wavelength is 463 nm, the linear correlation equation is A=-0.086 56c+2.517 26, the linear correlation coefficient(R²) is 0.993 46, the detection limit is 0.048 mg/L, and the relative standard deviation(RSD) is 0.148%~0.297%. The analysis and testing of the slurry obtained in different sections of potassium fertilizer flotation indicate that the recovery rate of spiking is between 99.65% and 104.06%. This method benefits from the simple operation, high sensitivity, fast detection, and low cost. It can be used to determine the concentration of ODA in aqueous solutions, positive flotation process, and potassium salt products without the usage of a large amount of organic reagents during the analytical procedure.
